Excellences of a Leader Based on Kautilya Arthashaastra
Is there anything common to ‘Leadership’ in every domain, whether it is Political, Social, Business, Military, Sports, Education and even Religious orders? Is there a common manifesto for Leadership – which can hold true for any discipline, something which stays consistent, irrespective of Country and culture, that remains unchangeable with passage of time?
The Contextualization of Diversity and Inclusion
Could you condemn a man, if your faith he doesn’t hold?
Say the colour of his skin, is the colour of his soul?
Or could you say if men, for king and country, all must die?
Then Mister you’re a better man than I
Yeah Mister You’re a better man than I
Oh Mister You’re a better man than I
Yeah Mister You’re a better man than I

Well Being: Being rather than becoming ~ part 1
In an earlier article, I had introduced the Mindful Talent Leader. This piece will take that thought further and discuss the concepts of well being, which is not new, but gaining traction in recent times. My contention is that Wellness begins with simple Awareness (of self) and awareness focuses on “just being”. The greatest indication comes from the fact that we call ourselves “Human Beings”.
Only as babies, are we afforded the luxury of inhabiting our being, but once forced to figure out who we want to be in life, most of us are so anxious about just becoming – becoming big, becoming famous, becoming rich and so on….
Well Being: Being rather than becoming ~ part 2
We continue from Part 1 of this article, where we discussed Being v/s Becoming, the significance of four and how Well Being is the alignment of the four human equipments – mind, body, intellect and spirit…
Lets end this articles with a story told about Buddha:
A man said to the Buddha, “I want Happiness.”
Buddha said, first remove “I”, that’s ego,
then remove “want”, that’s desire.
See now you are left with only Happiness!
Lets learn from the three saints. It is important to recognize that we need innumerable Well streets in every city, to create a healthy Wall street!
Learning from COVID Times
Adaptability of the organization comes from individual adaptability of its workforce. What can each team member do? Adaptability is one of the primary features of Nature itself. Having had a lot of added times during this lockdown, I had much opportunity to study Nature. In fact many major cities across the world reported much cleaner air, higher visibility, clearer skies, and that helped my endeavour too.
In other words, the crisis presented people with tremendous portals of self discovery – that’s what Mother Nature wants us to grasp. Much like Hercules did during the course of his 12 Labours. We are inevitably shaped by how we respond to twists of fate and shifts in circumstances. Let’s learn during Covid times and more importantly, from Covid times – this pause should make for a stronger workforce, and humankind! Remember what Ovid said “a field that has rested gives a beautiful crop!”
